Rules And Such

Post Season Fantasy Football

The playoffs may be the crown jewel of NFL football, but for every fantasy player out there, it's frankly kind of a letdown. Fortunately there is now PLAYOFF FANTASY FOOTBALL. Here's how it works.

You select a fantasy team using the rules below. Teams share players in common (i.e. everyone can have Peyton Manning, if they want him), and you gain fantasy points like in a standard fantasy league, however, once a player's team is eliminated, he's gone, so the trick is to balance talented, high scoring players with players that are likely to play in the Super Bowl. Is a one-game-and-done Peyton Manning better than a potential 3-game-playing Rex Grossman? That's for you to decide. And if you are worried about everyone simply picking all San Diego Chargers, don't. You may only possess a maximum of two (2) players from any one NFL team, and you may not have more than two (2) sets of teammates. So, you can have two (2) Chargers and 2 (two) Chiefs, but everyone else on your team is flying solo, so to speak. Here are some rules:

You can have 2 players from the same team, for two NFL teams, max.

Defenses will start with 4 points, and lose points for giving up points. They cannot score negative points.

You get to select:

1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex (TE/WR), 1 K, 1 Defense/Special Teams.

Teams/rosters will be picked once before the playoffs start, and then will be frozen for the duration of the playoffs. If a player's team is eliminated, he is not replaced/redrafted. If a player is injured, he is not replaced/redrafted.

6 per TD rushing/receiving

5 per TD passing

2 points per 25 yards rushing/receiving

2 points per 75 yards passing

1 point per 3 receptions

2 points per any part of a 2-point conversion

3 pts per FG

1 per PAT

-1 pt for the first turnover, -2 pts for the second turnover, -3 pts for each subsequent turnover.

Scoring is done on a PER GAME BASIS. If your RB has a 95 yard game and then a 20 yard game, he is credited with 6 points, not 8.

Defensive Scoring:

6 for defensive TD, 4 pts for a safety, 2 pts for a pick, 1 pt for fumble caused (only if a turnover results),

1 pt for fumble recovery (two points for the whole thing), 1 point for a sack, -1 point for every 7 points allowed. A DEFENSIVE TEAM CANNOT SCORE NEGATIVE PTS IN ANY GAME. THE LEAST PTS SCORED BY A DEFENSE IS 0.

Those are the basics. If there are any disputes we have Rule 1A. What the commissioner says is final.

To sign up, sign up on the back of this sheet, and E-MAIL your lineup to Paul.Noonan@Gmail.com. I will be setting up a website shortly thereafter, and updating scores. Note that this process is manual, and thus will not happen instantaneously. 10 bucks a head, winner take all. You must pay by the time I leave on Friday, and you must e-mail me a lineup before the kickoff of the first playoff game. No exceptions will be made.

Good luck to everyone!
